Many people purchase Plug and Play (PnP) monitors in order to take advantage of Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/XP user-friendliness, so that they don't have to worry about adjusting refresh rate and resolution of the monitor.
Microsoft only uses EDID to match with the INF file provided by the monitor manufacturer so that proper model name is displayed. Connecting a Sylvania Monitor to the Power Macintosh Recall that the Power Macintosh has two types of monitor connections available: HDI-45 and DB-15. The HDI-45 monitor port is built onto the motherboard of the computer. You can convert this port to a DB-15 by using the Apple Video Adapter Cable. The DB-15 monitor port is available on either the AV or VRAM expansion cards.
Once you have selected the resolution you wish to use and obtained the corresponding Sylvania Apple adapter, simply plug the Sylvania adapter between the DB-15 connector on the Macintosh and the end of the video signal cable from the monitor.
